A super piece of work by folk artist Eddy Mumma (1908-1986). 'Mr. Eddy' as he called himself, had very little schooling and was a hobo in his early years. After his wife passed away he moved from Ohio to Florida. Eddy suffered from diabetes and eventually had to have both his legs amputated. He took up painting at the advice of his daughter. At the time of Eddy's death he had nearly 800 paintings within his small home. He sold very few of his paintings within his lifetime, even though he needed the money, he liked to keep his pieces for himself. Eddy's paintings were a consistent majority of an abstract version of a bust of a man with his hands. This particular painting is a great example of his specialty.
